Detailed Description

Alladhee Fatarnaa - He Who Made Us is an Attribute of God from the Quran. This painting is in the style of Islamic Symbolic Impressionism. The scene depicted is a moonlit skyscape, riverscape with hills in the foreground and mountains in the background. The style is reminiscent of some of James Whistler's horizontal riverscape paintings and some from the Nocturne series. The mountains, hills, river, moon and sky are all Islamic symbols of power, order and monotheism. The river is a sign of purity, direction, purpose, provision and utility. There is a partial impression of a boat which is also a symbol mentioned in the Quran and hadeeth literature but here the meaning alluded to is human civilization as a sign of mankind.
