Kosuth, Joseph

Joseph Kosuth
(Ohio, 1945 - )

American-born artist, widely recognized as a leading exponent of the late-20th century Conceptual art.

Trained at the Cleveland Art Institute, Toledo Museum School of Design and School of Visual Arts, Kosuth´s works reflect his concern of philosophy and linguistics, in relationship with art.

His most characteristic work and probably his best-known piece, is One and Three Chairs (MOMA, New York), which includes a real-life chair, a full-scale photograph of a chair and an enlarged image of the definition of a chair.
