Pat Andrea Biography

La Haya, Holland 1942

Renowned painter, graphic artist and Dutch illustrator. The work of Pat Andrea captures and elaborates the horrors and phobias of war between the sexes.

An ironic eroticism and restrained violence are the themes of her paintings and drawings that criticism has related to Balthus and Bacon.

From a formal point of view you can combine the lessons of the classics with a grotesque expressionism, creating direct images with great intensity.

She was educated as a painter and illustrator on her own. Currently she lives and works in La Haya, Paris, and Buenos Aires.

In 1967 she obtained the Jacob Maris award for drawing.
