In Birnbach's own words: "As inspiration to my art, I have taken the enthusiasm I have always felt about my own femininity. My art is an exploration of that femininity, its ebbs and flows. I have chosen to leave the more serious political statements [on feminism] to the many other artists who wish to tackle them. I am determined, instead, for these images to portray the lighter, more humorous side of this greatly infinite subject. It would be my greatest hope for people to see a part of themselves, or someone they know in these images, and laugh." Although in one sense Alece does create limited editions of these works, each one is slightly different, making them unique one-of-a-kind prints.
