Alexander Sutulov Artwork Details

Detailed Description

Trajan is part of Roman Portrait Series which intended to underline the idiosyncratic aspects of roman sculpture naturalism. The center image is a Bronze portrait of Trajan's father who is superimposed to well known Trajan's portrait from Ostia, Hadrianic. The dichotomy created by the artist between father and son is to emphasis the singular offspring of a strong military ruler like Trajan and yet who happens to inherit the sensibility of his father.
