Auguste Rodin
Paris, 1840- Meudon,1917

French sculptor and graphic artist, widely regarded as one of the most prominent artists of his era.

His most characteristic works were individual figures or groups of historical, literary or symbolic life. In 1890, Rodin was commission to create a large set of bronze doors for the Musée des Art Décoratifs, by the French government. While, the work, called The Gates of Hell, was never completed, the individual pieces created, became Rodin´s most celebrated accomplishment. Some of the best known independent sculptures are The Thinker and The Kiss.
