Alberto Giacometti
(Stampa, 1901- Coite, 1966)

Swiss sculptor and painter, best known for his large scale sculptures, depicting human figures with extended proportions and skeletal features. Trained under Bourdelle at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiérie, his styles varied from naturalism to Surrealism and figurative artworks. He eventually gained the reputation as one of the most original sculptors of the 20th century. Similar o his large scale figurative sculptures, his most characteristic paintings depicted grey shades and elongated, gaunt figures.

While his works can be discovered at most major museums, the Giacometti Foundation at the Zurich Kunsthaus holds one of the most worthy collection of his works.
