Robert Indiana
(New Castle, Indiana, 1928 - )
American painter, printmaker and sculptor, widely recognized as one of the leading exponents of American Pop art.
While as an artist, Indiana, has also created figurative pieces, his most characteristic pieces are geometric with letters or various signs, such as his commissioned piece for the New York State Pavilion in the New York World Fair, 1964, with the words ‘ EAT ’.
His most familiar pieces are sculptures, with the letters ‘ L-0-V-E ’. In 1964, Indiana also worked on the film EAT, made with Andy Warhol.
