Edvard Munch
(Löten 1863 - Oslo 1944)

Norwegian painter and printmaker, recognized to be Norway’s leading artist and a major influence on German and Scandinavian Expressionist artists .

Trained at the Royal School of Design in Oslo, Munch was a master of figurative artworks, including portraits and landscapes. Also credited for the rise of Expressionism, his most famous work is The Shriek, an iconic piece, now at the National Gallery.
