Caro, Sir Anthony

Sir Anthony Caro
(New Malden, 1924)

British sculptor, recognized as a leading exponent of contemporary British art.

Trained as an engineer at the Cambridge University, Caro initially worked as an assistant to Henry Moore, the legendary British artist. Caro´s most recognized work is in large-scale abstract metal sculpture using scrap and industrial materials, such as the Early One ( Tate Gallery, London ). His first one-man show was held at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London.

Caro has also taught at the prestigious St. Martins School of Art in London.
