Derain, André

André Derain
(Chatou 1880- Chambourcy, 1954)

French painter, printmaker and sculptor, regarded to be one of the founders of Fauvism.

During his long career as an artist, Derain´s works were associated with several styles - Fauvism, Cubism, Primitive art and African sculpture. The latter part of his career was associated with more traditional styles and he began painting landscapes, portraits, and still-lifes, gaining his admirers and collectors worldwide.
