Ivan Georgiev Biography
Ivan Georgiev- marine artist (1933- 2008) Ivan Georgiev was one of the best know European marine artists of our time. His love of the marine landscape had generally been destined by his lifestyle: his upbringing among fishing boats, yachting, marine education, sailings on trade ships of the Bulgarian and especially aboard the first Bulgarian training yacht “Kaliakra”. His art of oil painting expresses an authentic feeling and sensation of sea. He had celebrated over 42 personal exhibitions by 2004. These exhibitions took place n his native country Bulgaria, as well as in countries such as Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. He won the first place award of the International Exhibition “Marina 98”, held in Odessa, the Ukraine, in 1998. Ivan Georgiev’s paintings were exhibited in art galleries in Bulgaria and abroad. His pictures can be found in private collections in Austria, England, Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Italy, Canada, Kuwait, Poland, Russia, the USA, Turkey, and Switzerland. He had a special hobby- yachting. He lived and worked in Varna, Bulgaria.
