Tran Trung Son Biography

An established Vietnamese artist, Tran Trung Son works in a figurative style. He is particularly interested in the expressive faces of old women, perhaps inspired by his deep affection for a woman in Thanh Hoa, where he studied.

Son combines Do paper, a traditional soft paper from Vietnam, with oil, to create interestingly textured work. He is particularly adept at expressing the wrinkles on his subjects’ faces.
