Aldo Rossi

Aldo Rossi was born in 1931 in Milan, Italy. He graduated from Politecnico in Milan with a degree in architecture.

He contrasted the model of reduced architecture with organic architecture which contributed to the debate on Post-modern architecture. His architecture background influenced his design products. His products looked like pieces of miniature architecture and were restricted to basic geometric forms.

His Cartesio cupboard looks like a high-rise building with a symmetrical arrangement of windows on the façade. He also used cylinders, cones and spheres frequently in his products such as his La Conica espresso maker, II Conico kettle and the La Cupola espresso maker.
