Arik Levy

Arik Levy was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1963. He graduated with a degree in industrial design from the Art Centre College of Design in Switzerland. He designed sets for dance ensembles, furniture and lamps.

He was known for creating ingenious products as with his Light Pocket hanging lamp, which has a shade in the shape of a carrier bag that opens in a slit at the bottom.  Behind the shade the bulbs are irregularly placed and produce atmospheric, shadowy forms.

He also taught at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Idustrielle, a leading French design institute and held various workshops in European Universities.
