Frank O. Gehry

Frank Gehry was born in Toronto, Canada in 1929.  He studied architecture in University of California, Los Angeles and he studied urban planning at Graduate School of Design, Harvard University.

He became a famous architect known for the development of Deconstructivism but he also was known for his original furniture designs. He perceived furniture and buildings as sculptures. His furniture uses unconventional and bold approaches by using everyday materials in unusual contexts. His chairs in the Easy Edges series solved the problem of instability in cardboard chairs by gluing layers of laminated corrugated cardboard together. He also created the Cross Check series of tables and chairs made of interwoven strips of maple wood.

His basket weaving techniques were seen as some of the most innovative American designs since the designs of Charles and Ray Eames.
