Le Corbusier

Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, who goes by the pseudonym Le Corbusier, was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

At a young age he began traveling through Europe and was influenced by many designers and architects that he met. His style had a clean modernist aesthetic.   He believed that a modern home should be a machine for living in, which is why many of his pieces have a machine like feel to them.

His LC 4 chaise longue chair is reminiscent of a machine with its steel frame and black upholstery and base. He also demonstrated his ideas of futuristic living with the bare walls and moveable furniture of the Pavillon de I´Esprit Nouveau, he designed in Paris.
