Michael Young was born in Sunderland, England in 1966. He graduated from Kingston University in Surrey in 1992.
During his studies he worked in Tom Dixon's studio where he secured a manufacturer for his first furniture series. This series was bulkier than his future designs for Italian companies when his work became more restrained with more flowing lines.
His Sticklight lamp is a good example of this as it consists of a singular tube which has a small ball in the middle of it. He has created everything from dog kennels, to wine coolers, to garden furniture. He enjoys vivid color schemes, putting a sense of humor in his designs and creating a sensation.
