The Bouruollec brothers, Ronan and Erwan were born in 1971 and 1976 respectively, in Brittany, France. They have created contemporary designs which through skillful choices of materials and multi-functionality have created a formal harmony. Their trademark is the flexibility and multipurpose of the furniture they design. They have designed office systems, furniture, lamps, kitchens and other home accessories.
Examples of the multiple functions of their work include the Glide chair, Joyn office system, and the Brick shelf system. The Glide chair has a fold down shelf on the back. The Joyn office system, developed in 2002 for Vitra, is an elegant long table which features shelves, socket panels, lighting elements, drawers, and partitions. Finally, the Brick shelf system consists of eight freely combinable parts, demonstrates their trademark flexibility of their designs.
