Sebastian Bergne was born in 1966 in Tehran, Iran but grew up in Cairo, Athens, Beirut, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.
He graduated from the Royal College of Art in London. His reductionist designs of furniture, lamps, tables, and accessories are extremely simple and elegant. His Lampshade 1 makes the light bulb look mysterious and functions as a reflector and shade that focuses the light.
His Nipotino, Zia and Zio table lamps are so simple that most would not have thought them up. He places the light below the table so the table acts as a lampshade producing a glow of light below the table. He has also created elegant vases and rhomboid jewellery boxes for De Beers.
