Designer, artist and teacher Paul Nash formed a group to promote Modern art and British artists Henry Moore and Ben Nicholson and architects Wells Coates and Colin Lucas.
In 1934 and 1937 the Unit One book was published embracing both abstract and Surrealist art though not fully addressing Modern design. Nevertheless Unit One became an effective proponent of Modernism in England in the years before the Second World War.
