Anton Cetin Biography

Bojana, Croatia 1936 -

Croatia-born, established Canadian contemporary artist, Anton Cetin often uses motifs and SYMBOLISM in his paintings and printmaking.

The artist trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (1964), moving to Paris, in 1966 and then to Toronto, in 1968.

He has received several AWARDS and HONORS for his work. In a tribute to his work, the Canadian Croatian Artist Society chose him Artist of The Year for 1986. In 1995 he received two honors from the Government of Croatia: The Order of Croatian Danica (Morning Star) with the image of Marko Marulic and The Order of the Croatian Interlace, for outstanding merits in the field of culture. In 2001 his works were selected by the prestigious Circulo del Arte, Barcelona, Spain.
