Dellfina&Dellacroix Biography

Agnieszka Dellfina and Thomas Dellacroix combine Thomas’ interest for history with Agnieszka’s fascination with human nature. Their joint projects deal with subjects like fame, image, identity and originality in context of collective memory, popular culture and mass medial manipulation. By re-enacting different personalities and historical events they created their own Utopian world, where they balance on the thin border between reality and illusion.

Their cooperation spans from photography, photomontage, painting and collage, to video, music, and performance. They are pioneers in a still largely unknown LENTICULAR technique, where pictures put in layers and covered with a prismatic perplex sheet, create a video-morphic sequences.

The artists have worked for the benefit of several human rights organizations including: Amnesty International, Red Cross, World Childhood Foundation, The International Research Foundation for Children’s Eye care, S.O.S Group, and Bris – Children’s Right in Society. Some of their images are featured in several books including: ” Designs of dissent” and “Peace Signs”.

Artist's Statement

"I’ve always had a fascination for the psychological aspects of life, the reason behind every deed, the definition of the truth. As in dreams that hide primal desires, my instincts create a form of expression in which by using my body both as the instrument and the canvas on which I project visual representations of my thoughts and emotions, I bring subject, object, and act of creation to unity. Both in my private and professional life I constantly analyse the boarder between subjective and objective, individual and collective; illusion and reality”. Agnieszka Dellfina “In my art I do not try to explore the spectra of artistic colours, nor the density between different materials or surfaces, and I find no interest in playing with perspective or form. My passion lays in a total different artistic expression -my fascination for the playfulness within trends and “isms”, and the gap between fame and misfortune. Although my art often takes a recognisable form, it never strives to copy- to the contrary. After the first impression when coming across any of my works, you will find a playful and intellectual dialogue with different artists and art movements of the past. By using a well-known language of expression I bridge the familiar of the past with the unknown of the present.” Thomas Dellacroix
