Gary Treadwell Biography

London, England, 1956

An emerging English photographer, Gary Treadwell's black and white photographs emphasize comtemporary and classic form.

Treadwell is a self taught artist, currently living and working in Cornwall, England. Currently, he is immersed in several projects including a series of portraits of other artists living and working in Cornwall. Treadwell's work appears in several private collections in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

Treadwell's black and white photos emphasize the subjects of the picture in both contemporary and classic forms. He is concerned with the exploration of space in a minimalist style.

When asked about his influences, Treadwell responds: "If I want inspiration, I look to the great painter's, and study how they used composition and form to such great effect, it is the cubists, the minimalists and the abstract expressionists who influence how I work, although there are photographers working today whose work I also find interesting.?
