Israeli sculptor and experimental artist born in 1928, best known for his role in the development of KINETIC ART movement.
Trained at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, Gieldon Art School, Zurci and Atelier dÃ?bstrait, Paris, Agam has been primarily active in Paris. His first solo exhibition was held at the Craven Gallery, Paris, in 1953. In 1955, he came into limelight with the exhibition LE MOUVEMENT, at the Dense Rene Gallery, Paris, where he and artists such as BURY, CALDER and SOTO, were credited for the birth of KINETIC ART.
Agam's works are typically characterized with abstraction, movement and viewer participation. He often uses sound and light with his sculptures. Amongst his most seen pieces are Double Metamorphosis II (MOMA, New York), Visual Music Orchestration, and the design of a square in the Defense quarter of Paris.
