Eero Aarnio

Eero Aarnio, born 1932, is a Finnish furniture designer. He is most well known for his innovative designs during the 1960´s. He worked with geometric designs to create playfully shaped chairs and tables. Aarnio mainly used plastic and fiberglass for material, but has also used wood and steel. His work contributed to the pop culture of the 1960´s and was even used on a few science-fiction film sets during this time period. His futuristic styles include, the Ball Chair, a hollow sphere on a stand open on one side for sitting, and the Bubble Chair, same design but floating from above. Aarnio is still today an active designer.
